چکیده

This paper describes the construction of a Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) system for mobile devices, using the largescale Web pages. We provide the training process of our IME model, n-pos model for local Kana-Kanji conversion and ngram model for online cloud service. Especially, we propose an online algorithm of mining new compound words, together with the detailed post-filtering process to prune the billion level entries to be used in mobile services. Experiments show that our IME system outperforms two state-ofthe-art Japanese IME baselines. We have released our system in a completely free form1 and the system is currently used by millions of users.

Visual Tracking using Learning Histogram of Oriented Gradients by SVM on Mobile Robot

The intelligence of a mobile robot is highly dependent on its vision. The main objective of an intelligent mobile robot is in its ability to the online image processing, object detection, and especially visual tracking which is a complex task in stochastic environments. Tracking algorithms suffer from sequence challenges such as illumination variation, occlusion, and background clutter, so an a...

A Mobile and Fog-based Computing Method to Execute Smart Device Applications in a Secure Environment

With the rapid growth of smart device and Internet of things applications, the volume of communication and data in networks have increased. Due to the network lag and massive demands, centralized and traditional cloud computing architecture are not accountable to the high users' demands and not proper for execution of delay-sensitive and real time applications. To resolve these challenges, we p...

Scrollpoint: an Input Device for Mobile Information Browsing

A mobile computing environment imposes various restrictions on users. For example, most mobile devices have a limited screen size, and it may be di cult to watch the screen closely. While the user is walking or standing in a bus or train, he or she may have only one hand free to manipulate the device. Therefore, some new operation method must be developed for comfortable information browsing in...

Design and Evaluation of a Method for Partitioning and Offloading Web-based Applications in Mobile Systems with Bandwidth Constraints

Computation offloading is known to be among the effective solutions of running heavy applications on smart mobile devices. However, irregular changes of a mobile data rate have direct impacts on code partitioning when offloading is in progress. It is believed that once a rate-adaptive partitioning performed, the replication of such substantial processes due to bandwidth fluctuation can be avoid...

Towards a Web-based Progressive Handwriting Recognition Environment for Mathematical Problem Solving

The emergence of pen-based mobile devices such as PDAs and tablet PCs provides a new way to input mathematical expressions to computer by using handwriting which is much more natural and efficient for entering mathematics. This paper proposes a web-based handwriting mathematics system, called WebMath, for supporting mathematical problem solving. The proposed WebMath system is based on client-se...
